Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a short storytelling session where students listen to a folktale and discuss the main characters. Introduce a set of new vocabulary words from the story and ask students to repeat them aloud. Have students work in pairs to predict what will happen next in the story based on the title and pictures.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage students in a role-play activity where they act out parts of the story to enhance comprehension and speaking skills. Organize a listening exercise where students identify key details from a short audio clip related to the lesson's theme. Reading: Have students read a passage from the story silently and then aloud, focusing on pronunciation and fluency. Guide students in a shared reading activity, where they take turns reading paragraphs and ask comprehension questions. Writing: Ask students to write a short paragraph summarizing the story using complete sentences. Have students create their own sentences using the new vocabulary words in a writing journal. Writing Conventions: Conduct a mini-lesson on identifying and using nouns correctly, with examples from the story. Provide an exercise where students underline nouns in sentences and categorize them as people, places, or things.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Oral Language: Reflect on the role-play activity by discussing how it helped understand the characters better and ask students to share their favorite parts. Reading: Assess comprehension by having students summarize the story’s main idea and key details in their own words. Writing: Review students' written paragraphs and provide feedback on sentence structure and vocabulary usage. Writing Conventions: Conduct a quick quiz where students identify and correct noun usage errors in given sentences.
