Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Engage students in a short story session and ask them to predict what happens next. Introduce new vocabulary words related to a familiar topic and ask students to guess their meanings. Play a quick game of 'I Spy' using objects in the classroom to reinforce naming words (nouns).
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Conduct a listening exercise where students listen to a short passage and answer comprehension questions. Facilitate a group discussion on the passage listened to, encouraging students to express their thoughts and opinions. Reading: Guide students in a shared reading of a simple text, highlighting new vocabulary words. Organize a reading circle where students take turns reading aloud and discussing the text. Writing: Instruct students to write simple sentences using the new vocabulary words introduced. Encourage students to write a short paragraph describing their favorite part of the story discussed. Writing Conventions: Conduct an activity on identifying and using nouns in sentences, focusing on proper and common nouns.
