Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin the lesson with a short story related to the day's theme, encouraging students to listen carefully for key details. Ask students to predict what might happen next in the story, fostering engagement and critical thinking. Introduce new vocabulary from the story, discussing meanings and encouraging students to use them in sentences. Conduct a quick recap of the previous lesson, asking students to share one thing they remember, to activate prior knowledge.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage students in a role-play activity where they use new vocabulary in context, enhancing their oral communication skills. Facilitate a group discussion where students share personal experiences related to the story, promoting listening and speaking skills. Reading: Guide students through a shared reading session, focusing on fluency and expressive reading. Organize a pair reading exercise where students take turns reading aloud, providing peer feedback on pronunciation and expression. Writing: Have students write simple sentences using new vocabulary, encouraging them to apply their knowledge in writing. Provide a picture prompt and ask students to write a short descriptive paragraph, focusing on sentence structure. Writing Conventions: Teach a mini-lesson on using nouns correctly in sentences, including proper and common nouns. Engage students in a sentence construction activity where they form sentences using a list of nouns provided.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
