Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a brief storytelling session where the teacher narrates a short story and asks students to listen carefully. Introduce new vocabulary from the story and discuss their meanings with the class. Engage students in a quick brainstorming session about possible causes and effects in the story they just heard.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Conduct a guided discussion where students express their understanding of the story and identify key events using 'because' and 'so'. Organize a pair activity where students take turns retelling the story to each other, focusing on cause and effect. Reading: Provide students with a short passage and ask them to underline sentences that show cause and effect. Guide students to create a story map highlighting the sequence of events and the cause-effect relationships. Writing: Have students write a short paragraph summarizing the story using 'because' and 'so' to link their sentences. Introduce a writing exercise where students develop their own ending to the story, explaining their reasoning with cause and effect.
