Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Warm-up by greeting learners and asking them to say their names and one favorite activity. Engage learners in a brief discussion about their favorite hobbies or activities to make them comfortable speaking. Introduce the lesson focus by explaining the importance of pronouns and how they help us in communication.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Practice introducing oneself by having learners pair up and take turns introducing themselves to each other, focusing on using full sentences. Conduct a class discussion where learners share what they learned about their partners, encouraging the use of pronouns like 'he' or 'she'. Reading: Read a short passage aloud and ask learners to identify all the pronouns used within the text. Organize a group activity where learners highlight or underline pronouns in a provided text. Writing: Guide learners in writing a short paragraph about themselves, ensuring the use of pronouns to replace nouns where appropriate. Have learners exchange paragraphs with a partner and identify each other's use of pronouns. Writing Conventions: Provide sentences with missing pronouns and ask learners to fill in the blanks appropriately. Review the use of different pronouns in sentences and their correct placement.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Oral Language: Reflect on the day's lesson by asking learners to share how they felt introducing themselves and using pronouns, and what they found easy or challenging. Reading: Assess learners' understanding by having them summarize the reading passage and share which pronouns were most commonly used.
