Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Introduce learners to the concept of vowel sounds with a quick pronunciation drill, focusing on short vowels. Engage students in a spelling bee using words that contain short vowel sounds. Discuss the importance of vowel sounds in word formation and spelling.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Conduct a listening exercise where students identify words with short vowel sounds from an audio clip. Facilitate a pair activity where students practice pronouncing and identifying short vowel sounds in a given word list. Grammar: Guide students in converting direct speech examples into reported speech through a series of interactive sentence transformation exercises. Provide a worksheet with sentences in direct speech and have students rewrite them in reported speech.
