Topic: Examine and list domestic animals in the community
| Strand: Cycles | Sub-strand: ANIMAL PRODUCTION |
| Indicator: B7.2.4.1.1 Examine and list domestic animals in the community | Content Standard: B7.2.4.1 Demonstrate an understanding of the differences among domestic animals such as ruminants, monogastrics and poultry (monogastric herbivore) |
| Performance Indicator: Learners can identify domestic animals in the community | T.L.R.(s): Printed Ghanaian goat and pig and chicken photo cards, Printed animal-product cards, Chicken feather and eggshell samples |
Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Share performance indicators and introduce the lesson.
Using questions and answers, review learners understanding in the previous lesson. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Groups sort the Printed Ghanaian goat and pig and chicken photo cards into ruminant, monogastric and poultry categories and justify each placement. They inspect the Chicken feather and eggshell samples and connect them with poultry structure and by-products. Learners match the Printed animal-product cards to the three animals and classify uses as domestic or commercial. A comparison table records feeding, body covering, products and community value for goat, pig and chicken. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Take feedback from learners and summarize the lesson. |
