Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a circle time where learners share their favorite family activity. Introduce a short story about a family and ask learners to predict what might happen next. Discuss different places in the local community and ask learners to share their experiences visiting these places.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage learners in a role-play activity where they introduce themselves and talk about their family members. Facilitate a discussion where learners describe a favorite place they have visited and why it is special to them. Reading: Have learners read a short passage about a family and answer inferential questions to understand deeper meanings. Organize a paired reading session where learners read about different people and places, then discuss their thoughts. Writing: Ask learners to draft a three-sentence story about a memorable day with their family. Guide learners through a peer review session focusing on clarity and use of action words in their stories. Writing Conventions: Conduct an exercise where learners identify and correct verb usage in sentences related to family activities. Guide learners in rewriting sentences to improve clarity and action word variety.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Oral Language: Reflect on the role-play activity by discussing how learners felt introducing themselves and talking about their family.
