Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a friendly greeting and ask learners to share their names and one polite expression they know, such as 'please' or 'thank you'. Introduce a simple song or rhyme that includes polite expressions and invite learners to sing along. Conduct a short discussion where learners talk about a time they used a polite expression and how it made them feel.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage learners in a role-play activity where they practice introducing themselves and their family members using polite expressions. Facilitate a group discussion where learners describe their favorite place and use polite expressions to ask questions about each other's descriptions. Reading: Provide a short passage about a family and have learners identify action words (verbs) within the text. Organize a group reading activity where learners take turns reading sentences aloud, focusing on the use of verbs. Writing: Guide learners to write a short paragraph about their family, incorporating action words (verbs) and polite expressions learned. Facilitate a peer review session where learners exchange written paragraphs and highlight the verbs used. Writing Conventions: Introduce a worksheet with sentences missing verbs and have learners fill in the blanks with appropriate action words. Conduct a matching activity where learners match verbs to images depicting actions.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Oral Language: Encourage learners to share one new polite expression they learned and how they can use it in daily conversations. Writing: Invite learners to read their paragraphs aloud and reflect on how using action words made their writing more dynamic.
