Week 7: Lesson Plan
Subject: Computing
Class: Basic 8
Topic: Algorithm
Strand: Computational ThinkingSub-strand: Algorithm
Indicator (code): B8.5.2.1.1Content Std (code): B8.5.2.1
Performance Indicator: Learners can represent complex algorithms using flowchartsCore Competencies: CP6.1: DL5.1
T.L.R.(s): Flowchart templates, pencils, drawing paper
Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Recap previous knowledge about Algorithm. Quick brainstorm: What do you already know about Algorithm? Introduction to today's objectives regarding Algorithm. Mental drill or quick quiz related to Algorithm.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Explain and demonstrate the concepts of 'Selection' and 'Iteration' in flowcharts. Guide students in creating flowcharts that incorporate repeating processes and conditions. Assist students in converting pseudo-code into flowcharts, focusing on process direction using 'Flow lines'. Evaluate understanding by designing a flowchart for a password verification system with retry loops.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Summarize what we learned today about Algorithm. Oral assessment: Answer key questions on Algorithm. Learners share one new thing they found out about Algorithm. Check for understanding and wrap up the week on Algorithm.
