Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Teacher writes and lets students see the answer on the board, perhaps a picture of object on the board. The students must come up with questions in which the answer could be the object on the board.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Display a local tree seedling and let learners identify benefits plants provide such as food, shade, medicine and oxygen. Discuss how people should care for useful plants. Groups examine printed photographs of local animals and identify benefits such as food, manure, companionship or help with livelihoods while also discussing humane care. Learners inspect a bottle of water and cup of local soil and explain how these non-living resources support people, plants and animals. Groups create a spoken chain showing one relationship among all three sets.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Ask learners questions to review their understanding of the lesson. Have learners write 3 facts of the lesson on a sheet of paper and it in their pockets and learn it on their way home.
