Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Play games and recite rhymes that learners are familiar with to begin the lesson. Ask learners questions to review their understanding in the previous lesson. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Learners talk about the importance of gardens in the home, school and community Learners visit various gardens e.g. school garden, flower garden Learners make a simple garden in the school and care for them e.g. flower pots, flower beds, vegetable beds
Have learners to watch pictures of gardens and relate to them.
For this activity, learners use okra and maize seeds, hand hoe and watering can to demonstrate how to prepare and care for a small school garden. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Ask learners questions to review their understanding of the lesson. Have learners write 3 facts of the lesson on a sheet of paper and it in their pockets and learn it on their way home. |
