Week 2: Lesson Plan
Subject: Computing
Class: Basic 8

Component 1

Generation Of Computers

Topic: Discuss the fifth generation of computers with emphasis of on quantum computing

Strand: Introduction To ComputingSub-strand: Generation Of Computers
Indicator: B8.1.1.1.1. Discuss the fifth generation of computers with emphasis of on quantum computingContent Standard: B8.1.1.1. Identify parts a computer and technology tools
Performance Indicator: Learners can discuss the fifth generation of computers with emphasis of on quantum computingT.L.R.(s): Ordinary computer processor, Printed Google Sycamore processor diagram, Printed bit-and-qubit cards
Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
phase1_starter (5mins) Revise with learners to review their understanding in the previous lesson.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Learners inspect the Ordinary computer processor as an example of classical computing hardware. They study the Printed Google Sycamore processor diagram and identify visible differences between an ordinary chip and the illustrated quantum system. Groups arrange the Printed bit-and-qubit cards to compare a bit's single state with a qubit model that can represent combined states. They use the comparison to explain fifth-generation trends, parallel processing and why quantum computing is suited to selected complex problems.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Reflection (10mins) Use peer discussion and effective questioning to find out from learners what they have learnt during the lesson.
