Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Begin with a quick recap of similes by asking students to share their favorite similes or create their own on the spot. Introduce a short story that includes several similes and adjectives, reading it aloud to the class. Discuss the order of adjectives in sentences using simple examples and encourage students to create sentences using given adjectives in the correct order.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
Oral Language: Engage students in a 'Simile Chain' game where each student must create a simile related to the previous one. Conduct a listening activity where students must follow a series of instructions that incorporate similes and adjectives, ensuring they understand the commands. Reading: Provide a passage filled with similes and adjectives, asking students to identify and underline them. Create a reading circle where students take turns reading paragraphs aloud, focusing on fluency and expression with similes. Writing: Have students write a short paragraph describing a scene using similes and a specified order of adjectives. Organize a peer review session where students exchange writings to identify correct and incorrect adjective usage.
