Play games and recite rhymes that learners are familiar with to begin the lesson. Ask learners questions to review their understanding in the previous lesson

Display a printed portrait of Chinua Achebe and introduce him accurately as a Nigerian writer whose work reflects aspects of African history and culture. Show a physical copy or short printed excerpt of Things Fall Apart. Read an age-appropriate selection or synopsis and guide learners to identify a cultural setting, character or theme represented in the text. Groups complete manila author-profile cards with the writer’s name, country, type of work, selected title and cultural contribution. They present the profile and explain one idea learned from the physical text.

Ask learners questions to review their understanding of the lessson. Give learners task to do whiles you go round to guide those who need help. Ask learners to summarize what they have learnt. Let learners say 5 words they remember from the lesson.
