Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Begin with a warm-up activity where students practice maintaining eye contact by engaging in a brief 'eye contact game' with a partner.
Introduce verbal and non-verbal cues by showing short video clips and asking students to identify them.
Have students use simple sentences to describe a picture, focusing on expressing their feelings about it. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Oral Language:
Students pair up and practice maintaining appropriate posture and eye contact while sharing a short story about their favorite activity.
In small groups, students use verbal and non-verbal cues to act out different emotions and classmates guess the emotion being portrayed.
Reading:
Teacher reads a short story aloud, and students follow along, identifying and correcting any mispronounced words using contextual clues.
Students participate in a 'reading circle' where they take turns reading from a level-appropriate text, focusing on fluency and pronunciation.
Writing:
Students write a short paragraph describing a recent experience, focusing on using simple sentences to convey their feelings.
Conduct a 'sentence building' activity where students are given words and have to construct simple sentences related to their feelings.
Using Writing Conventions:
Students practice spelling words with irregular patterns through a 'spelling bee' competition, using phonics knowledge to decode.
Introduce a 'word puzzle' activity where students decode and spell words with irregular patterns.
Extensive Reading:
Students participate in a 'book talk' where they bring a book from home to share with the class, discussing what they enjoyed about it.
