Subject: Career Technology
Class: Basic 7
Component 1
Resistant Materials
Topic: Explain how each of the resistant materials is manufactured/produced
| Strand: Materials for Production | Sub-strand: Resistant Materials |
| Indicator: B7.2.2.1.3 Explain how each of the resistant materials is manufactured/produced | Content Standard: B7.2.2.1 Demonstrate knowledge of basic concept of resistant materials |
| Performance Indicator: Learners can describe the process involved in making wood and plastic | T.L.R.(s): Local timber offcut, Clean plastic-container offcut, Printed wood-and-plastic production sequence |
Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Recap with learners to find out what they already know about the making of wood and plastic.
Share the performance indicators and introduce the lesson. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Groups inspect the grain and cut surface of the Local timber offcut and the formed surface of the Clean plastic-container offcut. They arrange the Printed wood-and-plastic production sequence and trace timber from tree to seasoning and sawing and plastic from raw material to forming. Learners match each finished sample to its production stages and explain one local use and one responsible disposal or reuse practice. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Use peer discussion and effective questioning to find out from learners what they have learnt during the lesson. |

| Indicator: B7.2.2.1.3 Explain how each of the resistant materials is manufactured/produced | Content Standard: B7.2.2.1 Demonstrate knowledge of basic concept of resistant materials |
| Performance Indicator: Learners can describe the process involved in making ceramics and glass | T.L.R.(s): Man-made board offcut, Clay pot shard, Glass jar |
Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Recap with learners to find out what they already know about the making of ceramics and glass. | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Learners compare the layered or bonded structure of the Man-made board offcut with solid timber previously studied. They inspect the fired surface of the Clay pot shard and the transparent rigid surface of the Glass jar without handling broken glass. Groups explain the main production steps for board, ceramics and glass and relate each sample's properties to an appropriate product. The teacher checks that every comparison includes safe handling. | Phase 3plenary / reflections Take feedback from learners and summarize the lesson. |
