Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning
Recap previous knowledge about a text in the local language. Quick brainstorm: What do you already know about a text in the local language? Introduction to today's objectives regarding a text in the local language. Mental drill or quick quiz related to a text in the local language.
Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment
1. Silent reading of a page, followed by paired reading. 2. Answer oral questions: 'Why did the character go to the farm?' (Direct) and 'How do we know the character was brave?' (Inferential). 3. Learners write answers to three questions in their exercise books using full sentences.
Phase 3plenary / reflections
Summarize what we learned today about a text in the local language. Oral assessment: Answer key questions on a text in the local language. Learners share one new thing they found out about a text in the local language. Check for understanding and wrap up the week on a text in the local language.
