Phase 1: Starterpreparing the brain for learning Take a nature walk with learners around the school to observe things in the natural environment.
Use questions and answers to have learners talk about some of the natural things they observed. Engage learners to sing songs about nature | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Learners use a hand mirror to observe familiar human features and discuss abilities such as communication, creativity, reasoning and responsible choice.
Groups examine printed photographs of Ghanaian children with local animals. They compare observable features and behaviours respectfully and discuss human responsibility to care for other creatures.
Learners complete a manila comparison chart with similarities, differences and one caring action. Groups present without ranking people or animals by worth. | Phase 3plenary / reflections What did we learn today? How human beings are different from other creatures.
