Example: cake rake king The child determines which word doesn’t rhymes and tells it to ‘get out of the wagon’ | Phase 2: Mainnew learning including assessment Learners name the familiar Ghanaian objects in the printed pictures, match their sounds or meanings to the printed word cards, and build further examples on the chalkboard with chalk.

After a while teacher speeds up the tempo. Have them compare the initial letters of these names and other common names and share their observations with the class. Give learners a text with names of particular places and days of the week, beginning with small letters.
